This guest blog is from holiday home owner Gayle Palmer.
One conversation with Gayle and her energy is infectious. She has a zest for life and I can’t imagine her ever sitting still! She’s a very busy lady as one read of this blog will tell you.
Holiday homes, hen parties, hot tubs, healing and harbours all feature heavily in Gayle’s life.
It’s fascinating to know more about the person behind the holiday home business, so a big thank you to Gayle for writing this.
My Holiday Homes
I am the fortunate owner of three spacious holiday homes near Chichester on the South Coast. The business is called >>Chichester Self Catering<<
They sleep from 4 up to 13 respectively and have all the mod-cons and space you would expect from a home-from-home, plus large gardens. I welcome extended families, Hen Parties and larger groups (check out the Facebook page here: Hen Party Haven). There is good to excellent wheelchair facilities too and they are pet friendly. One house also has a large hot tub and sauna – so as you can imagine the spa facilities are popular with everyone!
I started the house rental in 2005 -the house was too big to live in on my own once I was divorced, but, decided after having an alcoholic tenant for a while, that self-catering and shorter lets were a better idea. At least if you didn’t like the guests they weren’t there for long! The smaller apartment I altered from my Osteopathic Clinic three years ago and now I live above it. Last year I finished designing and re-building the family home too from a 3-bed bungalow to a 6 bed, fully wheelchair accessible house (after a catastrophic flood internally)! (Did I mention I like building things?!)
Chichester and the immediate area are stunning – I live close to 3 harbours, miles of beaches and 20 mins away from the South Downs too! There are masses of attractions within 15 miles from castles to Cathedrals. I am blessed!
This is such a special area and with knowing so many people and businesses locally, I love helping my guests to make the most out of their stay. This can be anything from the best gluten-free restaurants to visit; to organising pamper treatments or chocolate making lessons for Hen parties; to helping wheelchair bound guests to find places that are off the beaten track. It is all such fun!
My Day Job
In my “day job” I am an osteopath – with my own practice – the Living Elements Clinic – of over 25 years (which I built) and 5,000+ clients! I treat from pre-conception through to 100+ and specialise in babies and children, facial development and geriatric / palliative care – so across the range really!
I use osteopathy and a variety of other treatments including healing. It is a science backed up with techniques and uses the art of being totally patient-centred to help balance and re-establish health.
My Other Business
I also started a new business last year to help seniors and their families get their lives in good order. It’s called Great Guidelines for Later Life, as I found my Mum (and clients) needed help to know what to do and how, in many areas of life. It has turned from a small mission to quite an enterprise. It is aimed at both age groups as I found I had missing knowledge about certain things. This despite having a lot of experience through looking after my clients for years. I have even created a starter kit which could save someone’s life (at any age) in case of an accident.
Please – download it for free from www.GreatGuidelinesStarterKit.com – My gift to you and your family. (It has already saved 2 lives!)
My Outlook on Life
So you could say that my life is one of service to others. I LOVE to look after, support, encourage and help people get the juice and joy out of life!
In the summer, I make the most of my proximity to the harbour and coast by racing a 90 year old yacht 3 times a week. And as if I’m not busy enough I hope to be getting a dog in the near future.
Blogging, creating experiences, cooking etc. is what I enjoy doing when I am not gardening or sailing.
I know folks often can’t keep up with me – but I figure we are here for such a short time – if I am going to make a difference to the world I had better get on with it!
